SHENYANG, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Researchers have developed an intelligent manufacturing solution to satisfy the demands of customization.
When designs of products need to go through changes during manufacturing process according to client preference, the current manufacturing system cannot rapidly adjust itself according to modification.
Meanwhile, the cost of manufacturing system transformation is high. Thus more flexible production modes are needed.
To meet the demands of mass customization, researchers from Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a German company SAP jointly developed an intelligent manufacturing solution.
The intelligent solution aims to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce production cost. A 60 square meters simulated workshop is made up of independent modules with network control platform, mobile robots and an operating platform.
The product assembly process is manipulated by robots. If the products need adjustment during the manufacturing process, the response time can be shortened to several minutes from tens of days.
With the help of the new solution, clients can track the status of the orders for the whole course.
It is expected to be applied in the manufacturing of automobiles, elevators and smartphones.
