Artificial intelligence (AI) and the new 5G mobile telephony standard will be in focus during this year's Hanover Trade Fair, event head Jochen Koeckler said Wednesday.
The new, superfast 5G will facilitate industrial production processes and autonomous vehicles in Germany, Koeckler said.
Eight new applications in production are to be shown in the fair's 5G Arena test area.
"This is the big breakthrough," Nokia executive Thorsten Robrecht said. Nokia is one of the companies participating in the 5G Arena, which will aim in part at consumers and in part at industry.
The vision of a factory of the future was becoming reality, Bosch board member Rolf Najork said.
The Hanover Trade Fair is to host 6,500 exhibitors from 75 countries during the period of April 1 to 5. Sweden is this year's partner country.
