BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- South China coastal province Guangdong put on its annual list of key programs as many as 1,170 projects demanding 5.93 trillion yuan of investment in total this year, reported Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
The newspaper citing Guangdong's provincial economic planner - Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission said that among these projects, the province arranges 650 billion yuan of planned investment and 628 pre-prepared projects for 2019, with the latter's aggregate investment estimated at 3.18 trillion yuan.
These projects mainly comprises of infrastructure projects, industrial projects and projects to guarantee people's livelihood. Regardless of others, infrastructure projects covers a wide range of areas including highway, railway, airport, ports, energy, water conservancy, information infrastructure, urban construction, and environmental protection.
For airport-related projects, a total of 10 ones are arranged for this year. including the phase III expansion project of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Pearl River Delta hub airport project, and a batch of general airports programs in Jiangmen, Qingyuan, Meizhou, and Huizhou, which involve respectively 48.82 billion yuan, 35 billion yuan and 5.0 billion yuan of investment.
In energy sector, there are 14 maritime wind power projects, of which 10 are new projects scheduled to be constructed between 2019 and 2021 with more than 60 billion yuan investment. Nuclear power projects include the phase I programs of nuclear power projects in Lufeng and Lianjiang of Guangdong, with respective gross investment of 42.1 billion yuan and 48 billion yuan.
According to Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Guangdong will start building its 5G mobile networks this year. (Edited by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
