BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A forum on building a China Railway Express (CR Express) assembly center was held on Monday in Xi'an, capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and an initiative on co-building the Belt and Road grand land-sea transport channel was released at the forum.
More than 300 attendees from ports and cities along the Belt and Road routes, China's centrally-administered state-owned enterprises, famed firms engaging in logistics and railway construction as well as research institutions participated in the forum, sharing ideas on how to strengthen cooperation on logistics transport between Xi'an and cities and ports along the B&R routes.
According to the initiative, the building of the CR Express massing center aims at further facilitating customs clearance, reducing logistics cost, improving related services and trade environment, and ultimately enabling CR Express to gain long-term competitive advantages in the international market.
Besides, efforts should be made to innovate logistics organization and develop and promote multimodal transport technical equipment, in a bid to advance the normal and stable operation of the land-sea transport channel serving the Belt and Road construction, said the initiative.
The initiative also stressed that a more open market-oriented cooperation model as well as a regular communication and interaction mechanism should be established to jointly build a unified and standardized transportation system, constantly improving the international standards for land transport and sea transport in China.
On Monday afternoon, the Xi'an-Ningbo and Xi'an-Qingdao land-sea intermodal cargo trains departed the Xi'an International Trade and Logistic Park. The opening of the two lines can efficiently connect the distribution and allocation of the supply of the China-Europe Chang'an freight train, marking a substantial step by Xi'an in the joint construction of the grand land-sea transport channel.
