BEIJING March 27 (Xinhua) -- China - France cooperation has yielded fruitful results under Belt and Road Initiative, and third-party market cooperation between the two nations is on the rise, reported People's Daily Tuesday.
Last year, the largest Sino-French project in the energy field, European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) nuclear power unit at Taishan power plant in south China's Guangdong Province was successfully linked to power grid.
The project is run by a joint venture set up by CGNPC, French energy supplier Electricite de France (EDF), and Guangdong Yudean Group. By December 13, 2018, the unit has completed a 168-hour demonstration operation and was qualified for commercial operation.
China is an important partner of France in aerospace cooperation. On October 29, 2018, an ocean-observing satellite developed by China and France was launched, the first in the world monitoring ocean-surface wind and waves. French President Macron thinks highly of it and believes that this marks an important step in the space cooperation between China and France.
Moreover, the developing China-Europe freight trains have connected many cities of the two countries and facilitated bilateral trade. With the construction of Belt and Road, French and Chinese companies have great room for cooperation, both sides could seize the opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and promote common development, said a researcher of The French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs.
