BEIJING March 26(Xinhua) -- China has rolled out policies and action plans aimed at accelerating the fuel cell vehicle industry development pace, reported Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
With the development of hydrogen energy utilization and fuel cell technology, fuel cell vehicles have emerged in new energy vehicles. Compared with pure electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles have longer driving range and fast hydrogenation speed.
In 2017, fuel cell vehicle production was 1,272 units in China, showing a robust growth of 102.2 percent year-on-year. They included 992 fuel cell special cars and 280 fuel cell buses.
In the catagolue of new energy vehicle models recommended for use, there were only 3 models of special cars and 19 models of buses in 2017, but in 2018, 26 models of special cars and 60 models of buses were listed.
Besides, local authorities of China are accelerating industry layout nationwide. According to the statistics of Bohai Securities, there are 25 hydrogen refueling stations in China so far, mainly distributed in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hubei and Shanghai, which are home to major production bases.
Moreover, these provinces have made policies and set targets to speed up hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle industry coordinated development. For example, Shanghai has established the country's first hydrogen energy infrastructure investment construction and operation platform and strive to complete a hydrogenation station corridor construction in three to five years.
