InfoQuest (March 22, 2019) -- Ms. Paweena Nantikulvanich, Assistant Vice President of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. (TMT), revealed that in February 2019, the company's total auto sales were 82,324, up 9.1 percent, including 32,338 passenger vehicles and 49,986 commercial vehicles, respectively up 9.2 and 9 percent. During the same period, the sales of 1-ton pick-up truck reached 40,951, up 10.1 percent. The sales increase was boosted by high consumer demand and greater consumer confidence, which exerted positive influence on the auto market in February.
Total sales of the two months (January-February 2019) in auto market were 160,385, up 12.9 percent. That included 13 percent increase rate of passenger vehicle and 12.9 percent of commercial vehicle. All these show that various sustained auto sales promotion can encourage consumers in purchasing decision-making. Meanwhile, purchasing power was also boosted by better domestic tourism, higher prices of many farm products, and other factors.
It is expected that the auto market in March 2019 will continue to grow. Besides the election, which buoyed the whole national economy, the auto show held in this month was another factor shoring up the auto market. Though the worry over international trade war may dent consumer confidence, it will not affect the auto market in a big way.
