March 22, 2019

Abstract : Both China and Philippines expressed the willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in a meeting between China's MOC and the visiting Philippine cabinet economic management team in Beijing on March 19.

BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Both China and the Philippines expressed the willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at a meeting between China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) and the visiting Philippine cabinet economic management team in Beijing on March 19.

China is ready to further enhance the cooperation with the Philippines under the BRI framework and welcome the country to actively participate in the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, said Zhong Shan, head of MOC during the meeting.

The two sides should continue to promote the implementation of key cooperation projects in areas like infrastructure and people's livelihood, for the well-being of the two peoples, stressed him.

The Philippine delegation also delivered their willingness to further economic and trade cooperation under the BRI with China and to take part in the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Many talks have been held between officials from the financial and economic sectors of the two countries since 2017, which yielded the signing of a six-year bilateral economic and trade cooperation accord.

Besides, through these talks, China agreed to provide necessary financing support for related Philippine projects, expand imports from thePhilippines, and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in projects regarding infrastructure construction and improvement of people's livelihood in the country.
