BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhua) --- Kazakhstan plans to increase its quota for wheat export to China to one million metric tons (tonnes) per year, said Gulmira Issayeva, Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan at a press conference.
In 2018, Kazakhstan's wheat exports to China grew threefold, and it plans to achieve the set target of wheat export at 1 million tonnes per year within three years. Currently, the country is negotiating with China on the issues such as import quotas, noted Gulmira.
Kazakhstan has already achieved self-sufficiency in grain and flour supply. In 2018, Kazakhstan's grain output reached 22.8 million tonnes. Except for meeting domestic demand, Kazakhstan's has achieved a grain export of 11.7 million tonnes last year, added the Minister.
