BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Foreign trade between southwest China's Yunnan Province and the countries and regions along the Belt and Road (B&R) route totaled 13.9 billion yuan in January 2019, up 18.7 percent year-on-year, according to Kunming Customs.
It accounted for 69.9 percent of the province's total foreign trade in the month, customs data showed.
Yunnan's total imports and exports surged 35.8 percent year-on-year to 19.88 billion yuan in January 2019, of which its export volume took up 9.66 billion yuan, up 84.3 percent year-on-year, and the import volume, 10.22 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7 percent.
Trade between Yunnan and ASEAN nations totaled 9.91 billion yuan in January, up 21.7 percent year-on-year, with Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand being Yunnan's three major trade partners.
The province's trade with the Latin America maintained a strong upward momentum, surging 96 percent year-on-year to 1.6 billion yuan during the same period. Trade with other countries and regions along the B&R route including the European Union (EU), China’s Hong Kong, and the United States also increased. (Edited by Jiang Feifan)
