January 20, 2025

Abstract : A new factory for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems will be established in Kazakhstan in partnership with China's Envision Energy, a global leader in green energy. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 17 in the Khorgos-Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone in the Zhetysu region, marking the start of construction.

ALMATY, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- A new factory for the production of wind turbines and energy storage systems will be established in Kazakhstan in partnership with China's Envision Energy, a global leader in green energy. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 17 in the Khorgos-Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone in the Zhetysu region, marking the start of construction.

The facility, a collaboration between Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP and Envision Energy, will produce 250 wind turbine sets and 100 energy storage system sets annually. Of the total output, 60 percent will serve the domestic market of Kazakhstan, while 40 percent will be exported to Central Asia and the Caucasus.

The project is a key part of Kazakhstan's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The factory, set to begin operations in the third quarter of 2026, will support national emission reduction goals and increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy mix.

The facility will have an annual wind turbine production capacity of 2 GW, with 250 sets manufactured each year. Additionally, it will produce energy storage systems with a capacity of 1 GWh annually, delivering 100 sets per year. Envision Energy's involvement will provide Kazakhstan with cutting-edge technology and expertise, helping accelerate the country's transition to sustainable energy.

Kane Xu, senior vice president of Envision Energy, emphasized that the partnership would support Kazakhstan's clean energy goals, attract international investments, and drive economic growth. The initiative will also establish a service and technical support center to ensure high-quality services and promote professional development for Kazakh specialists.

The partnership aims to enhance local skill sets through technology transfer, training programs, and collaboration with local universities, as highlighted by Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP's chairman of the supervisory board, Dinmukhamet Idrisov. He also noted the project's potential to boost local technological expertise and foster energy independence.

Envision Energy, renowned for its advanced solutions in green energy, was recognized as a Tier 1 Global Energy Storage Manufacturer by BloombergNEF for Q2 2024. This partnership represents a significant step toward advancing renewable energy in Kazakhstan and contributing to global green transformation.
