BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) – China’s industrial Internet sector enters now a practical development phase from the past concept-focusing development, with the drawing-near 5G era likely to bring industry size to about one trillion yuan, reported Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News Friday.
--New industry modes boom
On the 2019 Industrial Internet Summit held in Beijing Thursday, Miao Wei, head of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said China’s industrial Internet developed by a faster pace and presented three typical features, reported the newspaper.
Firstly, application of China’s industrial Internet extends into multiple field including petrochemical, steel and metallurgy, home appliance and clothes, machinery, and energy and new industrial modes and formats such as online synchronization, service-based manufacturing, and personalized customization.
Secondly, construction of industrial Internet system was pressed ahead in all aspects. For instance, narrow-band Internet of Things has been in place in county level-above areas. Broad-scale use of Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) was basically completed. What’s more, industrial Internet ID resolution system, five top state-level industrial internet knots and sub-knots for ten industries and regions were built. Up to date, industrial internet platforms with certain industrial and regional influences exceeded 50 ones and the average equipment number with linkage to key industrial platforms reached 590,000. What’s more, construction of state-, province- and enterprise-level safety monitoring platforms system speeded.
Thirdly, sector structure construction presented development in multiple layers. Members of Appliance of Industrial Internet numbered over 1,000 and profound cooperation with industry organizations in the U.S., Europe and Japan was conducted.
--Industrial Internet expected to contribute 80pct revenue from 5G by 2035
As Wu Hequan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering predicted, revenue from the industrial Internet may contribute 80 percent of total revenue to be brought by the 5G market.
Other experts also attending the summit expressed confidence in China’s industrial Internet in the 5G era as well.
Currently, China is in dire need of industrial Internet as the country is in a key period of accelerating economic structural reform and promoting high-quality development, reported the newspaper quoting Miao.
