Reddit raises 300 mln USD in funding round led by China's Tencent -- U.S. social media site Reddit Inc. said February 11 it has raised 300 million U.S. dollars in Series D round led by China's internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd., which pushed the company's market valuation to 3 billion dollars. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman told CNBC news outlet that Tencent invested 150 million dollars in the latest round of fundraising, along with other investors.
Mercedes-Benz sales slump, deliveries to China pick up -- Sales of German carmaker Daimler's core brand Mercedes-Benz vehicles decreased by 6.7 percent in January compared to the previous month to a total of 180,539 cars sold, Daimler company figures published on February 11 show. Deliveries to China, on the other hand, rose by 4.8 percent. The main contributors to this growth were the long-wheelbase versions of the C-Class and E-Class sedans, both of which recorded double-digit growth rates in China.
Proton-Geely delivers 1,000 units of X70 SUV in single day -- Malaysian national car manufacturer Proton delivered 1,000 units of their X70 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in one day, the company said on February 9, as its first new model since teaming-up with China's Geely is gaining traction in the country. In a statement, Proton said the milestone was made in conjunction with the Chinese New Year open house recently held at its 74 3S (sales, service and spare parts) and 4S (sales, service, spare parts and body/paint services) outlets nationwide on Feb. 2.
Audi sets new monthly sales record in China -- FAW-Volkswagen Audi sold 63,888 vehicles in the Chinese market in January, a monthly record high, data posted at the company's website showed. The sales represented a 5.3-percent growth from the same period last year. Domestically-manufactured models, whose sales grew 3.9 percent year on year, made up almost 91 percent of the cars sold last month, while sales of imported models made up 5,500 units, according to the FAW-Volkswagen Audi.
