BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) – China will introduce a package of policies to fully improve the security level of the Internet of Things in transport by integrating technologies such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data deeply into various transportation fields, reported the Economic Information Daily quoting attendees of a forum held on January 19.

The forum, focusing on traffic intelligence and security, was jointly held by the Xinhua-run  Economic Information Daily and the China Transport News.

Currently, with the increasing dependence of transport on Internet and information systems, security has become a top priority in the technology-oriented construction of transport networks, noted Pang Song, an official at China's Ministry of Transport (MOT).

According to the official, in the near future, China will take measures such as system improvement, standards formulation and implementation as well as security management of the IoT system construction, to ensure the safety of transport networks.

In recent years, technological innovation has promoted the rapid development of China's transport networks, and the IoT technology has been widely used in bus, taxi, parking and other scenarios, noted Zhang Chaowen, secretary of the party committee and editor-in-chief at the Economic Information Daily.

It is reported that China's users of ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) charging has approached 70 million with transactions through this charging mode reaching 8.768 billion. The country's traffic card project has helped 210 cities connect to each other. Besides, its railway ticketing and reservation system has already become a core support platform in passenger transport organization, management and services. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
