BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Local authorities in China including Beijing, Chongqing, Liaoning and Anhui have rolled out action plans in succession to quicken the pace of 5G technology development, application and commercial use in 2019.
With a flood of capital invested in the 5G industry, 5G has become one of the buzz words this year, pointed out analysts.

Henan Province identified 10 key emerging industries to cultivate in 2019 at a press conference held on January 15. Among them, 5G industry will be the province’s key working point in the new year.
Northeast China is also targeting the 5G development. For example, Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province will promote the 5G network infrastructure construction on a large scale, with the 5G network industry demonstration application to be launched extensively. Heilongjiang Province will strengthen the transformation and upgrading of the next generation internet so as to promote the 5G for commercial use.
Anhui Province also proposed the digitalization construction and prepared to build a supercomputing center and advance the 5G for commercial use.
--- 5G application to be accelerated
In addition to the action plans rolled out by the local authorities, various application demonstrations of 5G technology are in full swing in China.
China Telecom Sichuan Company launched 5G live broadcast platform jointly with Sichuan Radio and Television during the period of provincial two sessions, using technologies such as 5G transmission and 360-degree VR panoramic shooting.
Sichuan Telecom is ready for 5G trial commercial operation this year, said Zheng Chengyu, general manager of China Telecom Sichuan Company.
It is reported that China Telecom's 5G hotspot has completely covered a 28-kilometer-road on the second ring of Chengdu, with internet speed reaching 2.4G/sec.
Chongqing is aiming to realize demonstrative application of 5G in the field of automatic driving. On January 16, China's first 5G automatic driving demonstration public service platform was officially launched in Chongqing. China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd, China Telecom Chongqing Company and China Information Communication Technologies Group Corporation signed a strategic agreement to jointly build the platform, with the goal of achieving 5G-based automatic driving this year.
