BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has established a sharing platform for ecological information integration of China's neighboring countries along Belt and Road routes, reported by ChinaTibetnews.com.
The first phase of the platform has established an eco-project management system and an environment monitoring and a law enforcement system. Data and information of soil, water, and air environment quality are also available on the platform for people in Tibet and China's neighboring South Asian countries in the Himalayas, where environmental protection has been major concerns, said an official from ecology and environment sector.
It has become a consensus to develop digital environmental protection and the environmental information disclosure to support the green construction of Belt and Road, said the official.
The establishment of platform was initiated by the local government in 2016, and formally started in 2017. The second phase of the platform will be completed in 2020. Tibet plans to establish a comprehensive management system on ecological environment information, and carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation with South Asian countries in environmental monitoring, clean energy development and ecological compensation mechanisms by 2020.
