BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) – China's Ministry of Transport (MOT) is mulling to launch a batch of major transport infrastructure projects and a series of favorable measures aiming at reducing logistics cost and related tolls, according to the Xinhua-run Economic Information Daily.
It clarified its main expected goals in 2019 at the national transportation work conference held on Wednesday, including completing a total investment of 1.8 trillion yuan in highway and waterway fixed assets, with newly-built and renovated rural roads reaching 200,000 kilometers, newly-added standard mileage of inland river high-grade waterway standing at 400 kilometers, freight volume by railway increasing by 350 million metric tons (tonnes), etc..
Yang Chuantang, Party secretary of MOT, said at the conference that new measures should be mulled to effectively reduce logistics cost and tolls on highways, airports, ports, railways, etc..
Specific measures will cover fields such as deepening the reform of tollway system, establishing service mechanism for enterprises focusing on major equipment production and transportation and quickening the online annual review of ordinary cargo vehicles, revealed Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport.
Yang also stressed that more efforts should be made to improve weak links in transport infrastructure. Meanwhile, various investment should be utilized to accelerate transport construction and a batch of strategic transport infrastructure projects should be planned. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
