BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- A new China-Europe freight train line has been launched, linking Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, with Duisburg, Germany.
A train carrying laptops, electron components and LCD on Monday departed at the international railway logistics center in Suzhou, marking the start of the service. The train will travel 16 days and pass through Alataw Pass in Xinjiang and Dostyk in Kazakhstan.
The new “Suzhou-Dostyk-Duisburg” freight line was jointly operated by Suzhou Newcity Investment and Development Co., Ltd. and KTZExpress JSC. The bilateral cooperation agreement was reached on November 5 at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Located at the intersection of the Belt and Road routes and the Yangtze River Economic Zone, Suzhou is blessed with strong economic foundation and location advantages.
More than 1,600 enterprises with total investment of 11.1 billion U.S. dollars from countries along the Belt and Road routes have been set up in Suzhou by the end of 2017, while Suzhou-based enterprises have invested in 367 projects along the Belt and Road, with the agreed investment standing at 5.9 billion U.S. dollars.
