BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- China Railway Seventh Group Zambia Limited, an overseas branch of China Railway Seventh Group Co., Ltd. (CRSG), has recently participated in the Northern Province Tourism and Investment Expo in Zambia.
"We should spare no efforts to promote the Agricultural Infrastructure Development Project (AIDP) in the Kalungwishi Farm Block of Northern Province at full speed," said Edgar C. Lungu, President of Zambia, while visiting the booth of the Chinese branch company.
The AIDP is undertaken by China Railway Seventh Group Zambia Limited. It covers an area of 200,000 hectares and has received a total investment of about 400 million U.S. dollars.
The company, whose ultimate goal is to build the Kalungwishi Farm Block into a sustainable agricultural industrial park, plans to build and renovate the Block's infrastructure in fields such as roads, bridges, dams, communications and electric power in phases.
The company hopes to foster the agricultural development of the Northern Province and improve local industries including infrastructure, creating more jobs and bringing more benefits for local people, said Li Songquan, general manager of the branch company.
Since entering the Zambian market in 2005, CRSG has created around 6,000 local jobs by undertaking 17 projects with the contract value amounting to nearly 900 million U.S. dollars, contributing greatly to local economic development. (Edited by Gu Shanshan)
