CEIS and OSRN establish strategic partnership

Abstract : China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency signed cooperation agreement with Oceania Silk Road Network (OSRN) on the 2nd Next Summit held in Hangzhou on Thursday in a bid to jointly promote the China-Oceania cooperation under B&R.

BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) –China Economic Information Service (CEIS) of Xinhua News Agency signed cooperation agreement with Oceania Silk Road Network (OSRN), a cooperation mechanism forged by New Zealand business interests, on the 2nd Next Summit held in Hangzhou, capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, on Thursday, in a bid to jointly promote the China-Oceania cooperation under the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative.

According to the agreement, in the coming years, CEIS and OSRN will carry out bilateral exclusive information exchanges covering China's investment projects, economy of Oceanian countries and suppliers (or products) of both sides, so as to better serve enterprises of both sides.

The two parties will also organize various seminars to help improve the understanding of the B&R Initiative in Oceania as well as countries and regions along B&R routes.

OSRN Chairman Yang Jian, a New Zealand MP, said at the summit that particular emphasis must be put on encouraging and fostering international cooperation against the backdrop of rising protectionism.

In recent years, China and Oceania has seen increasingly closer economic and trade ties. According to data provided by China's Ministry of Commerce, China remained Australia's largest trading partner as of August 2018, and was the largest export market as well as import origin of New Zealand as of July 2018.
