A German energy alliance consisting of 17 companies, four research facilities and one association will receive around 10 million euros in federal aid to conduct five research projects.
The "smood – smart neighborhood" alliance, based in the German state of Thuringia, wants to plan and implement energy-efficient upgrades for neighborhoods, Thuringian Renewable Energies Network (ThEEN) managing director Jana Liebe said on Wednesday.
Innovative technologies are to be used, she said.
The research projects will focus on energy storage, geothermal energy and solar thermal power, among other things. Clients include energy providers, as well as the housing and real estate industries, ThEEN said in a statement.
