BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China is likely to have natural gas hydrate resources of approximately 80 billion tonnes oil equivalent in its sea waters, according to the China Mineral Resource Report 2018 released on the China Mining 2018 held in port city Tianjin on Thursday.
China carried out oil and gas resource evaluation in 2017. Drafted by the Ministry of Natural Resources, the report shows that China has potential oil resources of 125.7 billion tonnes and recoverable resources of 30.1 billion tonnes.
Meanwhile, natural gas geological resources are 90 trillion cubic meters, and the recoverable resources are 50 trillion cubic meters, according to the report.
Geological resources of shale gas buried at depth of of 4,500 meters or less are 122 trillion cubic meters, and the recoverable resources are 22 trillion cubic meters, while the geological resources of coalbed methane buried a depth of 2,000 meters or less are 30 trillion cubic meters, and the recoverable resources are 125 trillion cubic meters.
