BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- China plans to raise non-fossil energy consumption to 15 percent in the total energy mix by 2020, and that to some 20 percent by 2030, paving its way towards a non-fossil energy and natural gas dominated energy use structure in future.
This is the message delivered from the 1st Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference during the 3rd International Forum on Energy Transition opened Thursday in Suzhou city of east China’s Jiangsu province, Shanghai Securities News reported.
The central government needs a revolutionary adjustment on the renewable energy development, and to deepen and accelerate the system reform in state-owned energy sector including power system reform, according to Wang Zhongying, deputy head of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission.
Previous problem of power rationing and power waste in wind power sector has improved greatly in recent years, said Wang Haibo, president with Goldwind, a world leading wind turbine technology and energy solutions provider in China.
With fewer plains and more mountains, China should develop wind power with its own characteristics, according to Wang.
The central government attaches great importance to renewable energy development in its top planning. However, local governments have less motivation doing so due to lack of benefit chain which also requires top design, Wang said. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
