BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- A train loaded with spruce wood has recently set off from the province of Dalarna in central Sweden, marking the launch of the first China-Europe freight train service from Sweden to east China's Ganzhou Port.
The journey is about 14,000 kilometers in total and usually takes 19 days to arrive in Ganzhou Port, a land-way port in east China's Jiangxi Province. The launch of the train service has greatly shortened the transportation time.
Sweden is rich in timber resources, while Nankang District in Ganzhou City is one of China's well-known wood furniture manufacturing bases, with the huge demand for wood.
It is reported that since its opening of China-Europe (Asia) freight train service in April last year, Ganzhou Port has launched 18 train lines and seen 110 trips, with the trains arriving in 18 countries and regions along the Belt and Road, such as Germany, Finland, Poland, Russia, Afghanistan, and the five countries in Central Asia.
