BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- North China’s Hebei province saw its foreign trade with the countries along the Belt and Road countries total 48.79 billion yuan in the first half of this year, up 4.7 percent year on year, accounting for 29.1 percent of the province’s total foreign trade during the period, according to the local customs.
To be specific, its exports to the Belt and Road countries reached 39.53 billion yuan in the January-June period, slightly up 0.9 percent year on year, while its imports from those countries surged 24.5 percent year on year to 9.26 billion yuan during the period.
Russia has become Hebei province’s most important foreign trade market. In the first half of this year, Hebei’s trade with Russia stood at 8.41 billion yuan, followed by India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Thailand. Hebei’s foreign trade with India, UAE and Thailand amounted to 6.2 billion yuan, 3.76 billion yuan and 2.59 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 8.5 percent, 33.7 percent and 3.7 percent, respectively.
The export of high-tech products grew rapidly during the period, while import products were mainly crude oil, agricultural products, iron sand, mechanical and electrical products, etc.
