German business confidence slipped slightly in June, according to a closely watched index by the ifo economic research institute.
The monthly business climate index fell by half a point, to 101.8, which was in line with analysts' expectations.
The current situation marks a decline in business fortunes, although expectations for the future remained unchanged, according to the survey of several thousand businesses, seen as the most important early indicator of the state of the German economy as a whole.
"The headwinds for the German economy have abated," said Clemens Fuest, boss of the Munich-based institute.
Business confidence has fallen six times, and risen only once, in the months since December.
