BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The foreign trade of Southwest China's Sichuan province hit 97.8 billion yuan in the first two months of 2020, ranking 10th nationwide, with an increase of 8.3 percent over the year earlier period, statistics from Chengdu Customs showed.
Specifically, Sichuan's processing trade in the first two months of this year was 63.75 billion yuan, increasing 19.8 percent and accounting for 65.2 percent of its foreign trade. Its import and export through general trade was 20.86 billion yuan, decreasing 20.5 percent and accounting for 21.3 percent of total, which was 7.7 percentage points lower than the same period of last year.
In the first two months of this year, Sichuan's imports and exports from the Belt and Road countries were 31.84 billion yuan, up 35.5 percent and 32.6 percent respectively. Among them, the volume of its trade with Israel and Poland increased 18.9 times and 1.6 times respectively.
It is learned that the province has issued measures to help enterprises reduce logistics costs and give priority to support foreign trade and economic enterprises to respond to the epidemic and stabilize foreign trade development. (Edited by Bao Nuomin, baonuomin@xinhua.org)
