Born in Southeast China’s Fujian province; worked as editor-in-chief of the International Herald Leader; long established in areas of conflicts and harsh conditions as an overseas correspondent, serving as trainee reporter at the Kathmandu bureau, chief correspondent at the Kabul bureau, and chief correspondent at the Hanoi bureau; a witness of the rise of the Communist Party of Nepal, the transition of Nepal from a monarchy to a republic, the attacks of the supporters of “Tibetan independence” in 2008, major attacks in Afghanistan and the riots in Vietnam in 2014.
