BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Information Service (CEIS), a subsidiary of Xinhua News Agency, released a bilingual (Chinese-English) report on China-Hungary investment and cooperation during the Thematic Forum on China-Hungary Belt and Road Pragmatic Cooperation held on Thursday in Budapest, capital of Hungary.
Based on years of country studies of CEIS, the report comprehensively presents the fruitful results achieved in bilateral economic and trade cooperation, the key cooperation project cases between the two countries during the past ten years, and the vast opportunities ahead for cooperation in the future.
The report points out that China-Hungary relationship is at its best in history, with continuous broadening of investment areas and greater potential for cooperation in science and innovation fields.
According to the report, bilateral trade between China and Hungary hit 14.52 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, an increase of 73 percent compared to 2013, and Chinese direct investment in Hungary was 7.6 billion euros in 2023, accounting for 58 percent of Hungary's total foreign direct investment, and making China once again, after 2020, Hungary's largest source of foreign investment.
By taking the Hungarian section of Budapest-Belgrade railway project as an example, the report notes that it will strengthen the north-south railway transport in the Central and Eastern European region, and enhance Hungary's position as a transport and logistics hub in the region.
The report suggests enterprises pay more attention to cooperation opportunities in fields such as electric vehicle manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, information and communications technology, among others.
