    Called Zhe for short, Zhejiang province is located in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta on the southeast coast of China. It borders Shanghai and Jiangsu province on the north, Anhui and Jiangxi on the west and Fujian on the south. Zhejiang covers an area of 101,800 square km, approximately 1.06 percent of the total area of the nation, and is one of the smallest provinces of China. The straight-line distance between south and north, east and west of Zhejiang is both about 450 km. Zhejiang has two sub-provincial cities, namely, Hangzhou and Ningbo, and nine prefecture-level cities, including Wenzhou, Huzhou, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Quzhou, Zhoushan, Taizhou and Lishui. Governed by those cities or the province are 36 counties, 22 county-level cities and 32 municipal towns. Zhejiang is one of most economically developed provinces in China. In 2014, Zhejiang province realized GDP of 4,015.35 billion yuan, up 7.6 percent from 2013, with the regional GDP per capita standing at 72,967 yuan, far higher than that of many provinces in China. By mid-2012, Zhejiang had established friendly relations with 114 foreign cities.
