BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese smartphone maker Oppo announced Thursday that the company will release its second self-developed chip at OPPO INNO DAY 2022, as the hardware company moves further into the semiconductor sector, reported Xinhua-run China Securities Journal.
Oppo once proposed a cutting-edge technology research and development strategy including core technologies such as self-developed chips, software systems, and cloud-computing projects in 2020.
Oppo's first self-developed chip Mariana MariSilicon X was released in 2021. As the company's first video-specific NPU, Mariana MariSilicon X uses a 6nm process and has a computing power of 18 TOPS. It is equipped with Find X5 series, Reno8 series, Reno9 series and other models. Up to now, the chip has been shipped more than 10 million units.
Chen Mingyong, founder of Oppo, said that technology companies must solve key problems through key technologies, and will continue to invest resources in the future, using a team of thousands of people to make self-developed chips down-to-earth.
