WUHAN, June 15 (Xinhua) -- A cargo train from Tashkent, Uzbekistan carrying 800 metric tons (tonnes) of cotton yarn arrived at Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei province on Thursday.
As the first China-Europe cotten yarn freight train, it traveled 13 days to arrive at Wuhan during which it crossed the border at Khorgas port. The cargo train carried cotton yarn worth 50,000 U.S. dollars.
Wang Lijun, chairman of Wuhan Asia-Europe Logistics introduced that Uzbekistan is a major cotton producer and exporter in Central Asia. China's demand for import cotton yarn is relatively large. The launch of the special line has created a transport route of cotton yarn along the Belt and Road.
The line is expected to see three to four trains traveling from Tashkent to Wuhan each month. As of early June, the Wuhan-Europe railway launched 198 cargo trains, carrying 170,000 containers. (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
