BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed, many major infrastructure cooperation projects have been put into operation, industrial insiders with the Ministry of Commerce said at the 9th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum held in Macao on June 7-8.
In 2017, the international turnover of 65 Chinese companies approached 100 billion U.S. dollars. Chinese engineering companies have become an important force in the international infrastructure market.
Gao Yan, deputy minister with the Ministry of Commerce introduced that by the end of 2017, China's foreign contracting engineering business had signed a total of 2.09 trillion U.S. dollars worth of contracts, and nearly 70 percent had been completed.
In 2018, the infrastructure development index of the countries along the Belt and Road routes jumped to 124, up 11 points from the previous year, of which the scale and growth rate of international infrastructure continued rising, and the number of projects and the amount of contracts increased significantly.
