CHENGDU, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Sichuan, a province in southwest China, had 81.38 million mobile phone subscribers by the end of April, making it the fifth in the country to report more than 80 million in mobile phone subscribers, data from Sichuan Communications Administration showed.
The province aims to raise the proportion of 4G users in mobile phone users to 75 percent, and build a 5G test network in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, by the end of this year.
Sichuan has modern and secure communications infrastructure. Currently, there are 320,000 mobile-phone base stations and 190,000 4G base stations in the province.
