BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- With the approach of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, China-Europe freight train (Xiamen-Moscow) has ushered in the peak of cargo transportation.
At noon on May 23, the freight gathering center welcomed over 100 containers, which was the largest number recorded since the route was launched in August 2017.
Clothing, shoes, hats, and small home appliances from Xiamen and surrounding areas have been very popular in the Russian market. The upcoming World Cup in Russia has stimulated the demand for related products and there were a lot of World Cup-related products in the containers that day.
In order to ensure the smooth delivery of the trains, Xiamen Customs has established "one-on-one" customs clearance consulting services, and assigned specialists to guide enterprises in reporting. It has further improved coordination mechanisms with related customs, constantly optimized customs transit procedures, and launched special services for small enterprises.
Xiamen-Moscow freight train is the first regular two-way international train starting from Xiamen and the first rail train that runs directly to Moscow.
It has shipped and exported 2,076 TEUs of goods in 25 trains, with a total value of 567 million yuan, while 33 trains with 2,714 TEUs were imported, worth 62 million yuan. (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
