China Guizhou-Guangxi freight train trial run departs Guiyang -- A freight train loaded with 25 containers of 1,350 tonnes of fertilizer left a logistics base in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou province for its first trial run on May 21. The freight train would carry the fertilizer to Fangchenggang in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where the cargo will depart by ship to Australia.
Chinese consortium wins contract for building 1 mln ton alumina production line in Indonesia -- CC Overseas Ltd. and China Third Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. (3MCC) recently won the bid for the construction of a 1 million ton alumina production line for the Bintang Nanshan Industrial Park in Indonesia. With a planned duration of 20 months, the project is jointly led by MCC Overseas and 3MCC, and 3MCC is responsible for implementation of the project. The project is located on Bintan Island in Indonesia's Riau Islands Province and has significant advantages in terms of geographical location, resources, logistics and government support. It is a general construction contract, which includes the construction, integrated pipe network, steel structure and making non-standard parts of raw materials workshop and evaporation workshop, as well as other facilities.
CNPC Brazil's Libra project first ship of equity oil arrives at Dalian Port -- China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced on May 17 that the first ship of 44,000 tonne equity oil from the Brazil's Libra oil project had successfully arrived at Dalian Port. This means that the investment of CNPC in its first ultra-deepwater oil project has started to pay. The Libra oil project is Brazils first production sharing contract(PSC)in which CNPC takes up 10 percent share. The deal was inked in December, 2013 and the project went into operation in November, 2017. CNPC and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) this March successfully carried out joint oil extraction from the project from which crude oil was shipped to Dalian port and then carried to Jinzhou Petrochemical Co., Ltd and PetroChina Jinxi Petrochemical Company for refining and processing.
Myanmar to sign deal with tender winners for Yangon railway development -- The state-run Myanmar Railways (MR) will sign deal with tender winners for a Yangon railway development project in two months to start the project, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported on May 17. A three-company consortium consisting of a local firm Min Dhama Co. Ltd, Singapore-based Oxley Holdings Limited and China-based Sino Great Wall Company were opted in February as the tender winners to re-develop the prime site around the Yangon Central Railway Station. MR invited tenders for the Yangon Central Railway Comprehensive Development project worth 2.5 billion U.S. dollars for the second time in 2015 after an initial attempt in 2014, which was cancelled for the lack of suitable applications.
GCL Group permitted to build natural gas pipeline system in Djibouti -- The government of Djibouti has given permission to GCL Group to establish natural gas pipeline system in the country, said chairman of GCL Group Zhu Gongshan on May 15. From May 9 to May 13, Zhu Gongshan paid a working visit to Ethiopia and Djibouti and discussed the “Ethiopia-Djibouti oil and natural gas” project with relative parties. During his visit, GCL Group and Djibouti signed a gas pipeline project development agreement. According to the agreement, the future oil and gas produced in the Ogaden Basin of Ethiopia is planned to be exported through the natural gas pipeline system. The agreement stipulates that the government of Djibouti agrees that GCL Group can build natural gas pipelines in the country, and that the investor will be responsible for the implementation of the oil pipeline project, including the construction, operation and transfer of the pipeline system.
Sinosteel contracts 400MW CBM thermal power project in Zimbabwe -- Sinosteel Corporation signed a contract worth 1 billion U.S. dollars with Zimbabwe to build a 400MW coalbed methane thermal power project and vigorously develop ferrochromium production in Zimbabwe, according to a report from bhi.com.cn. The project is located in the province of Matabeleland North of Zimbabwe and is expected to create nearly 25,000 jobs for the local community.
Nepal-China joint venture starts trial production of cement in Nepal -- Hongshi-Shivam Cement Private Limited, a Nepal-China joint venture, started trial cement production in Nepal starting from May 18, a director of the company said. Satish Kumar More, a director of the company, told Xinhua that they planned to start commercial production after completing trial production for a week. Once in full operation, it will be the largest cement factory to date in Nepal, with production capacity of 6,000 tonnes a day. China's Hongshi Cement is investing 359.18 million U.S. dollars as per the Project Investment Agreement signed with the Investment Board Nepal. The Chinese company has 70 percent stake in the company.
Iraq signs deal with Chinese company to develop oil field in Baghdad province -- The Iraqi Oil Ministry on May 23 signed a contract with a Chinese company to develop the Eastern Baghdad oil field." The signing of the contract with China's ZhenHua oil company, has an economic importance to the capital Baghdad, as it is the first oil project in Baghdad province," Iraqi Minister of Oil Jabbar Luaiby told a press conference after the signing ceremony. Iraqi Oil Ministry's spokesman Asim Jihad said the contract to develop the southern part of Eastern Baghdad oil field would increase oil production at the field to nearly 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) within the next five years, and will provide crude oil for the Iraqi refineries, power stations and factories.
