Germany's recycling sector is eyeing new business opportunities as a result of China's decision to stop importing plastic waste.
"For plastic waste the door to China is closed, but recyclates for the plastic processing industry are much desired, and also in China," Thomas Probst of the Federal Association of Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Removal told dpa at an industrial fair in Munich.
It was therefore better to talk about new opportunities and less about difficulties, he said.
On January 1 China imposed a ban on the import of plastics and other waste for recycling.
