NANJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Silk Road School of Renmin University of China was inaugurated on Wednesday in Suzhou, east China’s Jiangsu Province.
About 100 foreign students from the countries and regions along the Belt and Road (B&R) will begin their two-year study from September to pursue master's degree.
Liu Wei, president of the Renmin University of China, noted that Silk Road School will try to further optimize talent cultivation program and improve curriculum setting in a bid to nurture high-quality talents for the B&R.
Christine Chappuis, former dean of the Law School at University of Geneva in Switzerland, said that as Europe and other countries in the world are all interested in the silk road, Silk Road School is bound to attract more excellent students.
“Since the foundation of people-to-people exchanges lies in education, the establishment of Silk Road School manifests international vision,” said Wang Guiguo, president of the Hong Kong-based International Academy of the Belt and Road (IABR).
The school will highlight research in Chinese politics, Chinese economy, Chinese law, Chinese culture, all students of which will be awarded master’s degree in laws. (Edited by Zhang Yuan, zhangyuan11@xinhua.org)
