BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua Silk Road, China’s state information service platform focusing on the Belt and Road Initiative under Xinhua News Agency, released monthly reports on foreign trade of tea, alcoholic drinks and poultry meat in March with China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA) in Beijing on Wednesday.
The reports show that, China exported 25,685.7 tons of tea in March, with a month-on-month decrease of 9.3 percent; while the import amount reached 3,041.4 tons, up 67.5 percent. In the first quarter of 2018, the export value of tea was 372 million U.S. dollars, which was much larger than the import value of 37.92 million U.S. dollars, but the average export price was slightly lower than the average import price.
China’s import and export of alcoholic drinks in quantity, value and average price recorded month-on-month increase in March. The export amount reached 38,710.6 tons, up 23.0 percent; and the import amount reached 314,291.5 tons, up 17.2 percent. In the first quarter of 2018, the import amount and value recorded great increase, while the export amount and value recorded slightly decrease.
About poultry meat and its products, China exported 33,025.4 tons and imported 46,603.1 tons in March, up 26.3 percent and 52.8 percent, respectively. In the first quarter of 2018, the import and export of poultry meat and its products maintained a steady growth.
The series of 28 reports, which covers a wide range of categories including wine, whisky, black tea, green tea, chicken and duck, is a part of Xinhua Silk Road’s information consulting and think tank services. Since officially launched in July 2015, Xinhua Silk Road currently provides products and services covering a Chinese-English bilingual database, a Chinese-English bilingual web portal, research, consulting and think-tank services. It also offers companies and institutions one-stop services in due diligence, trade matchmaking, branding, and credit investigation.
Established in 1988, CFNA is the largest organization specialized in food and agricultural product import and export in China. Currently, CFNA has 43 professional commodity clubs and more than 6,600 member companies, whose import and export value of food and agricultural products accounts for more than 70 percent of the total in China.
