BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- In April, sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China reached 73,000 units, representing an increase of 31 percent from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 150 percent, according to data of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
In April, 56,468 units of pure electric passenger vehicles were sold, an increase of 132 percent year on year. 16,677 units of plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles were sold, an increase of 243 percent year on year.
In 2018, the new energy passenger vehicle market showed a good start. In January, 31,638 units of new energy passenger vehicles were sold, an increase of 483 percent year on year.
In February, 29,000 units of new energy passenger vehicles were sold, showing the strong growth momentum.
In March, sales of the new energy passenger vehicles reached 55,723 units.
In terms of car producers, in April, BYD topped the sales list with 13,392 units sold, a year-on-year growth rate of 116 percent. In the first four months, BYD sold 41,891 units of the new energy vehicles, making it champion of sales so far this year.
BAIC BJEV ranked the second with 11,771 units sold in April, up 104 percent year on year. SAIC ranked third with 7,504 units sold in April, up 180 percent year on year. (Edited by Hu Pingchao, hupingchao@xinhua.org)
