BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently approved the construction of Hetian-Ruoqiang railway project in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with a total investment estimated at 22.15 billion yuan.
Constructed and operated by a joint ventured between China Railway and the development and reform commissions with Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the railway line starts from Hetian station, running through 71 stations in total and extends 825 kilometers in length to end at Ruoqiang station, according to the NDRC.
The project’s construction will last for 3.5 years with long-term transport capacity planned at eight pairs of passenger trains daily and 15 million tonnes of freight annually. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
