BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 345.7 tonnes of rum from January to March, 2018, down 28.9 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's rum imports amounted to 1.359 million U.S. dollars during the period, down 11.8 percent on year.
In March alone, China imported 83.8 tonnes of rum, down 35.1 percent on year.
From January to March, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export rum to China, Puerto Rico ranked the first by 271,000 U.S. dollars in value of rum, down 48.4 percent year on year followed by Cuba and the United States.
In March, 2018, Cuba ranked first with a value of 212,000 U.S. dollars, followed by the United States and France. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
