BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhua) -- China imported 4,320.5 tonnes of whisky from January to March, 2018, an increase of 44.8 percent year on year, according to a monthly report jointly released by Xinhua Silk Road and China Chamber of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA).
The value of China's whisky imports amounted to 38.214 million U.S. dollars during the period, an increase of 45.3 percent on year.
In March alone, China imported 1,346.4 tonnes of whisky, up 12.2 percent on year.
From January to March, 2018, among all the countries and regions that export whisky to China, The United Kingdom (UK) ranked the first by 32.314 million U.S. dollars in value of whisky, up 46 percent year on year followed by the United States and Japan.
In March, 2018, The UK ranked first with a value of 9.538 million U.S. dollars, followed by Japan and the United States. (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
