BEIJING, May 2 (Xinhua) – By the end of April 26, 26 Chinese provinces announced their regional gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of this year, with 17 provinces reporting a GDP growth higher than national growth of 6.8 percent, according to economic news website Ce.cn.

According to Ce.cn, Shanghai reported a Q1 GDP growth equal to the national one, and 8 provinces including Shandong, Beijing, Xinjiang, Shanxi, Heilongjiang, Hainan, Liaoning and Tianjin posted a GDP growth lower than 6.8 percent in the first quarter.
Among the 26 provinces, Guizhou Province led the GDP growth with 10.1 percent, which was 3.3 percentage points higher than the national one.
Chongqing Municipality reported a regional GDP rise of 7 percent in the first quarter of this year, which was much slower as compared with the 10.5 percent growth in the same period of last year, although it was higher than the national one.
Besides Chongqing, 15 other provinces also suffered a slowdown in GDP growth in the first quarter of this year. Among them, Tianjin and Hainan witnessed the steepest drop. Public data showed that Tijian’s Q1 GDP inched up 1.9 percent year on year, down 6.1 percentage points from a year ago. (Contributed by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
