China's Vivo launches new smartphone in Bangladesh -- China's smartphone producer Vivo officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone -- Vivo V9 -- at a ceremony held here on April 2. The new handset comes with an iPhone X-like notch as well as sports AI (artificial intelligence) selfie features. It comes preloaded with AR Stickers, Face Unlock, and Face Beauty Mode.

Boeing's Jeppesen teams up with Bad Elf to simplify aviation data updates -- Jeppesen, a subsidiary of U.S. top aerospace manufacturer Boeing Company (Boeing), is teaming up with aviation hardware and Software provider Bad Elf to simplify flight data update via a mobile technology accessible on iPhone or iPad. Boeing said in a statement April 2 that Jeppesen has entered into a new strategic alliance with Bad Elf to establish a wireless data transfer system for aircraft owners and operators to update avionics data using the Jeppesen Distribution Manager (JDM) technology.

Sinopec to increase clean energy capacity -- China Petroleum & Chemical Corp has pledged to increase its share of clean energy production capacity to more than 50 percent within six years, through increasing its output of natural gas, shale gas and related facilities. The company, also known as its annual natural gas supply capacity to 60 billion cubic meters, with gas pipelines in operation reaching 10,000 kilometers and its LNG receiving and transferring capacity exceeding 26 million metric tons per year by 2023. Chinese wind energy company operates U.S. sustainable battery system for storage -- A California-based energy storage company said April 1 that its new long-life sustainable battery system has been installed at the Beijing campus of Etechwin, a subsidiary of world leading Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind. Primus Power, the leading long duration stationary energy storage firm based in California, said in a statement that battery energy storage paired with wind turbines unlocks the ability to mitigate rapid wind output changes due to varying wind speeds.

Walmart looking to expand retail footprint in China -- US retailer Walmart Inc is looking to make further inroads in China's burgeoning retail market by expanding services to busy Chinese families through omni-channels, an expanded hypermarket network, more high-end membership stores and supermarket formats, a top official said. Doug McMillion, president and CEO of Walmart, told China Daily during his recent visit to Beijing that the world's largest retailer by revenue is looking to drive innovation in three categories: low price and quality merchandise, redefining assortment through learning from partnerships and competitors, and creating fun and efficient shopping experiences for customers..(Source: China Daily)

Alibaba acquires food delivery startup Ele.me -- Alibaba acquires food delivery startup Ele.me Alibaba April 2 announced that it will acquire full ownership of China's leading online food delivery startup Ele.me. The transaction valued Ele.me at 9.5 billion U.S. dollars. The e-commerce giant and its affiliate Ant Financial currently own about 43 percent of the outstanding voting shares of Ele.me, Alibaba said in a statement.
