Chapter I. Summary
China exported 30,856.8 tons of tea in January 2018, a decrease of 4.9 percent month on month. The export value amounted to 148.89 million U.S. dollars, a decrease of 6.1 percent month on month. The average price was 4,825.1 U.S. dollars per ton, a decrease of 1.2 percent month on month. Compared with January 2017, there was a decrease of 0.2 percent in quantity, an increase of 24.7 percent in value, and an increase of 24.9 percent in average price.
In terms of export destination by continents, Asia imported 9,206.0 tons of tea in January 2018, a decrease of 4.1 percent year on year, or 66.52 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 48.7 percent year on year, at an average price of 7,226.1 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 55.0 percent year on year; Africa imported 16,385.5 tons, an increase of 5.5 percent year on year, or 55.00 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 9.5 percent year on year, at an average price of 3,356.9 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 3.8 percent year on year; Europe imported 3,621.8 tons, a decrease of 14.7 percent year on year, or 14.81 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.1 percent year on year, at an average price of 4,089.7 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 18.5 percent year on year; South America imported 103.1 tons, a decrease of 2.5 percent year on year, or 0.78 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 28.2 percent year on year, at an average price of 7,543.3 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 31.5 percent year on year; North America imported 1,382.2 tons, an increase of 7.4 percent year on year, or 10.01 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 28.7 percent year on year, at an average price of 7,243.0 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 19.8 percent year on year; Oceania imported 158.3 tons, a decrease of 0.6 percent year on year, or 1.76 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 22.4 percent year on year, at an average price of 11,114.5 U.S. dollars per ton, an increase of 23.1 percent year on year.
Among all the countries and regions that imported tea from China, Morocco ranked first in terms of import value with 22.23 million U.S. dollars in January 2018, a decrease of 4.0 percent year on year; Hong Kong ranked second with 21.14 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 58.6 percent year on year; Vietnam ranked third with 12.77 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 181.9 percent year on year.
