With the promotion of various sports industry policies and consumption demand, China's sports industry will enter a "golden decade", and the development of sports town oriented on sports tourism is also promising, according to China Investment Consulting, one of China’s leading consulting institutes in industry strategy.
In its report named "Development and Strategy Consulting Report on China Characteristic Town Construction During 2018-2022", CIConsulting noted that the State Council issued in 2014 the "Several Opinions on Speeding up Development of Sports Industry and Promoting Sports Consumption" (Circular 46), which clearly defined the status of sports industry and proposed the goal that "total size of China's sports industry will exceed 5 trillion Yuan with added value of 2 trillion Yuan by 2025".
In the meantime, with the improvement of incomes and living standards of China’s residents in recent years, the consumption demand for the sports industry is on the rise, laying a good market foundation for the development of sports industry.
Thanks to the double functions of policies and markets, the sports industry in China has achieved rapid development.
Supported by the booming sports industry, as the report showed, the development prospects of sports town is attractive.
In May 2017, the General Office of the State Sports General Administration promulgated the "Circular on Promoting the Construction of Characteristic Town for Sports and Leisure".
The Circular pointed out that a number of sports and recreational characteristic towns with distinctive sports characteristics, strong cultural atmosphere, industrial agglomeration and integration, good ecological environment and benefiting people's health throughout the country will be constructed by 2020.
The report noted that sports town focuses on sporting goods manufacturing industry, or keeps pace with the "ice sports", "football" and other current hot spots to create an attractive sports base, or promotes the nationwide fitness and other unique sports activities of residents.
