Chinese firm signs contract for oil refining project in Nigeria -- China National Chemical Engineering No. 7 Construction Co., Ltd. (CC-7) signed an EPC contract with Dangote Group on February 1 for a projects package in the core area of Dangote Oil Refining Project in Nigeria, with a total contract value of 520 million U.S. dollars. Dangote Oil Refining Project has a daily crude oil processing capacity of 460,000 barrels (66,000 t/d). As the largest contract package, the package 3002 won by CC-7 involves four core units. This project is another major move in overseas market development achieved by CC-7 after it succeeded in Russia and the Middle East.
China announces new PPP demonstration projects -- China's Ministry of Finance on Feb. 6 published details of new public-private partnership (PPP) demonstration projects, with a total investment of 758.8 billion yuan (around 125 billion U.S. dollars). This is the fourth batch of such investment since 2014, as the country tries to stimulate social capital to sustain economic growth. The 396 newly-added projects, including an expressway for Beijing's new airport, cover affordable housing, transport, education, technology, tourism, energy and agriculture, the ministry said.
Norinco International to invest in wind power project in Croatia -- Norinco International Cooperation Ltd. (Norinco International) recently announced that it would invest in and operate a 156MW wind power project in Senj, Croatia, with an estimated total investment of 179.16 million euro (about 1.4 billion yuan). Croatian firm Energija Projekt d.d., whose majority stake was previously acquired by Norinco International, will be responsible for the development and construction of the project as well as its operation after it is completed. Located along the coast of the Adriatic Sea in central Croatia and eight kilometers northeast of Senj, the wind farm covers an area of 44.8 square kilometers and has an overall installed capacity of 156MW.
CHEC wins bid for Chilean reservoir PPP project -- Among the bids submitted in the tender for the Las Palmas Reservoir project in the Valparaíso Region of Chile, the best offer corresponded to China Harbor Engineering (CHEC), said a report from www.bhi.com.cn. CHEC has been awarded the contract with an investment estimate of 11.5 million U.S. dollars for the construction and 4.3 million dollars for the operation. The project will start construction in 2020 with a fixed concession period of 228 months. The project is aimed to improve irrigation condition of the middle and lower reaches of the Petorca Valley, covering an area of about 28.59 square kilometers.
POWERCHINA wins first project in Brazil -- China Three Gorges (Brazil) Energy Ltd. recently issued the letter of acceptance to Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) for the project upgrading Jupia and Ilha Solteira Hydropower Plants, according to the report of sohu.com. This marks the first project of POWERCHINA in Brazil’s hydro-power market. The project includes upgrading assisting system, monitoring system and automatic system for eight generators of the two plants.
Production base for lithium battery material planned in NW China -- Construction on a production base for lithium carbonate, a raw material for making lithium batteries, is expected to begin in March in China's lithium-rich province of Qinghai. The project, with a designed annual output of 30,000 tons and an investment of 4.85 billion yuan ($770 million), is owned by a joint venture between China's leading new energy vehicle maker BYD, Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Co Ltd and a Shenzhen-based investment company. BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu said that BYD has mastered techniques to extract lithium from the salt lake. A new BYD battery plant in Qinghai will start production in June.
China to invest 800 mln USD in B&R project in Abu Dhabi -- Twelve Chinese companies will invest more than 800 million US dollars in a Belt and Road project in Abu Dhabi, creating more than 2,000 jobs. Agreements have been signed between the companies, 10 of which are from east China's Jiangsu Province, with the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Cooperation and Investment Company (JOCIC), which is in charge of developing 2.2 square kilometers of land at the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad). China will build the industrial cooperation demonstration park within Kizad to boost practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Construction of the industrial park started in January.
Zhangjiagang contributes to international thermonuclear project -- Four stainless steel vapor condensate tanks made by a local company in Zhangjiagang city, Jiangsu province were shipped to France on Jan 28. This is the first time that a nuclear pressure vessel from China has been introduced to the continent, and reflects the collaborative relations between China and Europe when it comes to technical standards. Jointly developed by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co (CNPEC) and Suzhou Thvow Technology Co., Ltd, the four tanks are an important part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project.
