China's Xiamen Airlines launches direct flights to Cambodian capital -- China's Xiamen Airlines has launched direct flights between Southeast China's Xiamen city and Cambodia's Phnom Penh capital city with the aim of further enhancing bilateral tourism and economic ties, officials said on January 29. Mao Havanall, Cambodian secretary of state for civil aviation, said the airlines had used a Boeing 737-800 jet to operate four weekly flights between the two destinations and its first flight landed in Phnom Penh on Feb.4.
China's BAIC BJEV granted certificate to enter EU market -- BAIC BJEV, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, said the company has been granted an electric vehicle product safety certificate by German accreditation provider DAkkS. Zheng Gang, general manager of BAIC BJEV, said the certificate signaled that the company is now allowed to enter the European Union's electric vehicle market.
China's BYD to provide electric buses to Egypt's Alexandria -- Chinese auto manufacturer BYD signed an agreement on January 24 with Egyptian Passengers Transportation Authority to provide 15 electric buses for the Arab country's public transit fleet. "This is the first time Egypt would use electric buses," Khaled Eliwa, chairman of the Authority in Alexandria, told reporters, adding that the deal aims at improving public transportation system in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Egypt's second largest city.
Starbucks says 1Q sales rose only in China -- Starbucks, the world's largest coffeehouse chain, reported disappointing first-quarter sales in all regions except in China, where same-store sales rose 6 percent. Hyundai to recall defective Tucson vehicles in China -- Beijing Hyundai will recall 63,852 vehicles in China due to a potential safety hazard in the wire harness, according to China's top quality regulator. The recall, filed with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, is for Tucson vehicles manufactured between April 1, 2017 and Oct. 25, 2017, the administration said in a statement. The car maker said the faulty wire harness could cause a short circuit in severe cases.
