BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Approximately 968,000 Chinese tourists visited the Philippines in 2017, up 43.3 percent year on year, making China the second largest source of foreign arrivals, according to the Philippine Department of Tourism.
In 2018, with more direct flights of the Chinese and Philippine airlines put into use, more and more Chinese tourists are expected to visit the Philippines.
Data shows that the Republic of Korea (ROK) has been the largest source of the tourists in the Philippines at present, with about 1.6 million tourists of ROK visiting the county last year. The U.S. and Japanese tourists came the third and the fourth, respectively, with about 957,000 and 584,000 tourists in the Philippines, respectively.
